Programs of Hope and Healing with Our Kin Behind Bars

RISE2hope (formerly Jesuit Restorative Justice Initiative Northwest, aka JRJI NW) is the Seattle-based version of an Ignatian-centered prison program in Los Angeles – Jesuit Restorative Jesuit Initiative (JRJI). RISE stands for Restorative Ignatian Spiritual Encounters, signifying the organization’s commitment to its Ignatian roots.

A pastoral ministry of restorative justice, RISE2hope uses Ignatian methods of prayer, retreat, education and advocacy, striving to bring hope and help heal broken relationships for and with those impacted by crime and incarceration throughout the state of Washington.

RISE2hope, though primarily a ministry to those who are in prison, also mobilizes constituencies to advocate for the transformation of the justice system to become restorative rather than punitive. Ultimately, RISE2hope strives to help people find deeper meaning in their lives and embrace alternatives to violence, addiction, gang membership and incarceration.
