Father Arthur F. Rutledge, S.J., died peacefully Wednesday, January 30, at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California. He was 86 years old. Born in Los Angeles, California, on February 18, 1921, Art entered the Society of Jesus at Sacred Heart Novitiate in Los Gatos, California, on July 30, 1938. He pronounced final vows on August 15, 1957, at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California. May he rest in peace.
All members of the California Province and those applied to it are to offer or celebrate one first intention Mass and members of the Jesuit Community at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center and those attached to it but living elsewhere (cf. 2008 Catalogus USA, pgs. 37-38) are to offer or celebrate one additional first intention Mass for the repose of Art’s soul.

October 9, 2019 — Father Stephen F. Pisano, SJ, Emeritus Professor of Old Testament exegesis and textual criticism at the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome, died in the Jesuit infirmary in Rome October 7, 2019 after a brief illness.
