July 29, 2021 — On July 31, the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Fr. Sean Carroll, SJ, will be installed as the new provincial of Jesuits West during a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Ignatius Church in Portland, Oregon.
Prior to his appointment, Fr. Carroll served as executive director of the Kino Border Initiative (KBI), a binational humanitarian aid ministry serving migrants on both sides of the U.S.- Mexico border. Fr. Carroll succeeds Fr. Scott Santarosa, SJ, who was named provincial of the Oregon Province Jesuits in 2014 and became provincial of Jesuits West when the Oregon and California Provinces joined together in 2017.
