Peter Berger, SJ

June 12, 2024 — On May 24, 2024, Peter Berger, SJ, of Jesuits West, was ordained a deacon, along with nine other Jesuits, at St. Basil’s Catholic Church in Toronto. Most Reverend Terrence T. Prendergast, SJ, Archbishop Emeritus of Ottawa-Cornwall, was the ordaining prelate.

During his Jesuit formation, Berger taught religion at Bellarmine College Preparatory School in San Jose, California, and he is currently studying theology at Regis College in Toronto.

Prior to entering the Society, Berger earned an associate degree from Yakima Valley Community College and was a seminarian for the Diocese of Yakima. As a seminarian he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon.

He spent two years with a traveling retreat youth ministry that provided him the opportunity to travel across the Northwestern and Mideastern United States, as well as northern British Columbia, Canada. He also attended World Youth Day in Canada in 2002 and in Germany in 2005.
