Their Mission Was Us—Now Ours Is Them
Jesuits devote their lives to bringing education, healing, and reconciliation to God’s people. Now, it’s our turn to support them. The Province’s most urgent need is to provide compassionate care for 80+ senior Jesuits at the retirement home and infirmary in Los Gatos, CA. This growing population combined with the rising cost of healthcare has put financial strain on the Province, and we depend more on philanthropy to meet our $16M annual budget. Honor the men who taught with wisdom and led with humility. The men who walked with you in faith. They gave everything to shape the hearts and minds of generations. Help them to live their remaining years with dignity.
Building a Faithful Future—One Jesuit at a Time
Now, more than ever, the world needs Jesuit priests formed in faith, compassion, and justice to lead with courage and serve with humility. Jesuits spend 10-12 years preparing for the ministry, and the Province will spend an average of $110,000 on each man.
Your support helps prepare new Jesuits for a lifetime of serving and changing the world—one Jesuit at a time. Each man in formation is being shaped to become not just a priest, but a compassionate leader, an educator, a healer, and an advocate for justice. From classrooms to refugee shelters, from pulpits to prison ministries, your gift echoes through every life they touch. By investing in their journey, you’re helping to form men of courage and conscience—ready to meet the world’s greatest needs with faith, hope, and love.
Power Our Ministries—Transform Lives
Through education and outreach the Jesuits have been architects of change for the poor and marginalized since St. Ignatius Loyola founded the Society of Jesus in 1540. The Province spends over $3 million on social and pastoral ministries that support the most vulnerable in the 10 Western states: Al, AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA.
This support often takes the form of start-up or seed-grant assistance to ministries serving the poor and underprivileged. Examples of these ministries include Homeboy Industries, the Kino Border Initiative, Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest, and Proyecto Pastoral to name a few. Keep One Foot Raised—Answer the Call of Now
Did you know that Ignatius asked his followers to always “keep one foot in the air?” This value reflects a spirit of readiness, flexibility, and trust in God’s unfolding call. Giving to the Jesuits’ greatest need mirrors this attitude of allowing your generosity to meet the most urgent and unexpected challenges of the Province as they arise. In doing so, you align yourself with the Holy Spirit’s invitation to be nimble, generous, and fully available to serve where it matters most.
