Proyecto Pastoral

Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission is a community building organization whose mission is to provide training, education, and social services with the Pico-Aliso/Boyle Heights district of East Los Angeles. Proyecto Pastoral coordinates five community based programs. Founded in 1986 by community residents and the California Province of the Society of Jesus, the ministry has grown into a highly effective community-building organization. Proyecto Pastoral is committed to involving local community members in the planning, design, and implementation of its programs. One third of the Proyecto Pastoral Board of Directors is comprised of local community residents responding to community identified needs, enabling Proyecto Pastoral to make a significant impact in the lives of local families. Anticipating the needs of the community enables Proyecto Pastoral in being an ever evolving organization whose success lies not only in being dynamic but understanding the real issues. Proyecto Pastoral serves more than 2,500 children, youth, and families annually through its five programs.

Kino Border Initiative-USA

The Kino Border Initiative (KBI) is a binational organization that works in the area of migration and is located in Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. The KBI was inaugurated in January of 2009 by six organizations from the United States and Mexico: The California Province of the Society of Jesus, Jesuit Refugee Service/USA, the Missionary Sisters of the Eucharist, the Mexican Province of the Society of Jesus, the Diocese of Tucson, and the Archdiocese of Hermosillo. The KBI’s vision is to help make humane, just, workable migration between the U.S. and Mexico a reality. Its mission is to promote U.S./Mexico border and immigration policies that affirm the dignity of the human person and a spirit of bi-national solidarity.

Jesuit Restorative Justice Initiative

Jesuit Restorative Justice Initiative (JRJI) is a pastoral ministry of restorative justice that strives to heal broken relationships with those who are incarcerated and their families as well as victims of crime and their families through prayer, education, and advocacy. JRJI mobilizes constituencies to advocate for transformation of the justice system to become more restorative than punitive. We collaborate with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles through its Office of Restorative Justice. We share much with Homeboy Industries which seeks to serve those who have been released from prison. Ultimately, we all strive to help people find meaning in their lives and offer them a deeper alternative to life than gang membership and incarceration.

Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest

Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest responds to local community needs in the Pacific Northwest by placing volunteers who provide value-centered service grounded in the Jesuit Catholic tradition. Honoring the Divine at work in all things, we envision the Northwest as a sustainable region where all live in dignity, are treated justly, and actively contribute to their own empowerment and positive change in their communities.

Jesuit Volunteer (JV) EnCorps, a program of JVC Northwest, engages people 50+ in a rewarding experience of service, community, and spiritual formation. JV EnCorps Members (JVEs) commit to 10 months of part-time service (September – June) in their local communities and to the exploration of JVC Northwest’s core values: community, simple living, social and ecological justice, and spirituality.
